
Social competition
Handball SA runs a mixed social competition across the winter months:
DATES AND TIMES
Autumn Competition: 23 May to 23 June 2019 (four rounds; no games 6-9 June)
Spring Competition: 8 August to 8 September 2019 (four rounds; no games on SA v VIC weekend)
Games will be held either:
- Thursday 7pm at Underdale High School, off Holbrooks Road
- Friday 6pm at St Peters College Senior Campus, off Hackney Road
- Sunday 6pm or 7pm at Underdale High School
See Location page for venues. Teams must nominate their preferred game time upon registration.
REGISTRATION
Registration is currently open for the AUTUMN COMPETITION using the black button above. Registration is to be completed by a captain on behalf of their team. Each team may field a maximum of seven players on the court at any one time, with a maximum of seven substitutes (fourteen squad members overall). All players who take the field must be listed on the team list.
Team registration closes Monday 20 May 2019.
Participation in the competition requires a one-off registration payment for every player.
Fees are as follows:
$30 player
$25 player under 18 years

There are no casual fees. There is no online player registration form to be completed (only the fee to be paid directly to Handball SA).

COMPETITION RULES
Competition rules are as follows:

This is a social competition. 'Fair play' principles apply

Team members should wear a similar colour playing top, preferably with a number on the back. Unsafe accessories must be removed.

Games will consist of 3 x 15 minute periods with 2.5 minute breaks in-between. Delays in starting play will result in game time being shortened.

Teams must have a minimum of 2 female players on the court at all times. Breaches will result in a suspension

Each goal scored by a female is worth double points

Suspensions are of 1-minute duration only

No team time-outs

A team not able to commence the game on-time with the required minimum number of (5) players will forfeit the game (0-10 loss)

Contact is allowed but expected to be proportionate to the level of the ability/experience of the players involved. Referees will be instructed to protect the fairness of the game by asking players to moderate contact on their opponent

All other standard handball rules apply according to the IHF Rules of the Game

A ten-minute warm-up period will be given before the start of each game

Each team must supply a time/score keeper to complete bench duties according to the roster
